COVID-19 Update As Of February 16: Highest During The Pandemic, New Cases Reach 64,718

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 566,050 specimens were examined with the result of 64,718 new positive cases of COVID-19. Today's new cases are the highest during the pandemic.

"The total accumulated positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 4,966,046 people and active cases have increased by 39,165 to 445,190 cases," said Ministry of Health data, Wednesday, February 16.

Today's recovered cases increased by 25,386 cases, bringing the total to 4,375,234 recovered people. Then, positive confirmed cases who died increased by 167 people and a total of 145,622 people.

The province with the highest new cases was in West Java with 151,196 cases and a total of 870,880 cases. Followed by DKI Jakarta with 12,388 new cases with a total of 1,095,353 cases. East Java has 7,919 new cases and a total of 460,130 cases. Then, Banten with 6,798 new cases and a total of 224,032 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to West Java with an additional 5,413 recovered cases. Followed by East Java with an increase of 5,340 recovered cases, DKI Jakarta with an additional 4,908 recovered cases, and Banten with an additional 3,810 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens has reached 79,004,878.

"Positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week is 16.04 percent," he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or currently categorized as suspected cases is 39,465 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

To date, 188,833,480 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 137,485,375 people have received the second dose of vaccination.

While the third dose of vaccination was 7,505,145. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
