CSIS Survey: Golkar's Electability Over Gerindra And PDIP

JAKARTA - The National Image Network Survey puts the electability of the Golkar Party and Airlangga Hartarto in the highest position if the election is held today.

National Citra Network Executive Director Dwi Harini Soejono said, in a survey involving 2,140 respondents from January 22 to February 6, 2022, Golkar became the party that was chosen the most as the Top of Mind.

"The Golkar Party is the party that has been chosen the most as Top of Mind with an electability rate of 14.9 percent," said Dwi Harini in a statement to the media, Wednesday, February 16.

He said Golkar beat PDIP in second place with 14.8 percent. In third place, Gerindra emerged with 14.2 percent, followed by Democrats 4.2 percent, and Nasdem with 3.9 percent. Positions six to nine came PKS (3.2 percent), PKB (3.2 percent), PPP (1.2 percent) and PAN (1.1 percent).

The National Citra Network Survey also provides closed-ended questions to respondents from civil servants, lecturers and students, laborers, business people, housewives to entrepreneurs and farmers. As a result, the Golkar Party is still the party most voted by respondents.

In the closed-question simulation, Golkar's electability reached 17.6 percent, followed by Gerindra with 16.8 percent in second place and PDIP with 16.4 percent in third. In this simulation, Democrats ranked fourth with 7.2 percent, then PKB (5.2 percent) and PKS (5.2 percent).

Dwi Harini said that the survey results show a preference for political party ideology. Namely, 39.4 percent tend to choose political parties with religious nationalist ideology as Top of Mind.

The survey also shows a number of factors in which respondents choose political parties. Among other things, as much as 4.7 percent are influenced by the vision and mission of political parties, as much as 14.2 percent because of the giving of money or gifts.

In addition, 37.2 percent are influenced by ethnic similarities with legislative candidates or presidential candidates, 30.8 percent are influenced by similar beliefs, and 13.1 percent are caused by other factors.

Still in the same survey, in the simulation if the presidential election were to be held today, the National Citra Network found the name of Golkar General Chair Airlangga Hartarto as the figure chosen by the most respondents.

"The question 'Who would you vote for if the presidential election were held today?" Then the results obtained with the first rank Airlangga Hartarto who was chosen by 21.8 percent of respondents, "said Dwi Harini.

In the second position, the name of the General Chairperson of Gerindra Prabowo Subianto with an electability of 15.3 percent, followed by the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo with 8.1 percent of respondents. The name of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, is in fourth place with 7.5 percent.

Dwi said Airlangga Hartarto's name also appeared at the top of the closed simulation of the presidential election. Airlangga, who currently serves as Coordinating Minister for the Economy, was chosen by 23.5 percent of the respondents.

In the second and third places, the same names were still raised, namely Prabowo Subianto (16.4 percent) and Ganjar Pranowo (8.3 percent).

"The reason the respondents chose Airlangga Hartarto is because Indonesia needs the sustainability of the development that has been carried out by President Jokowi and the improvement of the economy and the improvement of people's welfare to reduce poverty due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic," said Dwi.

It is known that the National Citra Network survey was conducted using the Field Study method through in-depth interviews with relevant institutions and stakeholders. The survey was conducted in 1,070 sub-districts in 34 provinces in Indonesia. The survey results have a confidence level of 95 percent and a confidence interval of 2.12 percent.
