Bandung District Court Judge Decides 9 Baby Victims Of Rape Herry Wirawan To Be Entrusted To The West Java Provincial Government

BANDUNG - The Bandung District Court (PN) has decided that the babies born to the rape victims of Herry Wirawan should be entrusted to the West Java Provincial Government.

According to the judge, the verdict was considered based on the psychological aspects of the victims, including expert advice presented at the trial.

"Determined that the nine children (babies) of the victims should be handed over to the West Java Provincial Government for treatment," said Chief Justice Yohanes Purnomo at the Bandung District Court, Antara, Tuesday, February 15.

As for the 13 female students who were victims of Herry Wirawan, according to the judge, there were eight victims who were pregnant and of the eight, nine babies were born. In his decision, the judge stated that a number of the babies would be handed over to be cared for at the UPT for the Protection of Women in West Java Province.

Later the agency will conduct periodic psychological evaluations of the victims. Because later the babies will be handed back to the victims.

"If the results of the evaluation show that the victims and their children are mentally and mentally ready to take care of their children, and the situation has allowed the children (babies) to be returned to their respective victims," he said.

The panel of judges sentenced Herry Wirawan to life in prison. The judge considered that there was nothing that eased Herry Wirawan's sentence.

Herry's actions were found guilty in accordance with Article 81 paragraph 1, paragraph 3 and paragraph 5 in conjunction with Article 76D UURI Number 17 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection in conjunction with Article 65 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code as the first indictment.
