JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government recorded a total of 706 schools that were temporarily closed during face-to-face learning (PTM) since early January. This school was closed due to the findings of COVID-19 cases, both teachers and students.

However, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that the implementation of PTM from implementing 100 percent capacity to 50 percent of students for the past 2 months with hundreds of schools closed was not a significant obstacle.

"PTM evaluation so far has gone quite well, there are no significant obstacles," said Riza at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, February 14.

A total of 706 schools were closed for 5 days to trace students and teachers who were in close contact with positive cases.

Meanwhile, as of February 11, 348 schools have reopened and have implemented 50 percent PTM.

To prevent the finding of COVID-19 cases in the school environment, Riza asked parents to ensure that their children who attend PTM still adhere to the implementation of health protocols.

"We ask parents of children to ensure that they carry out health protocols properly, especially when traveling using public transportation," said Riza.

The Gerindra politician also appealed to students to return home immediately after school. This is intended to avoid the transmission of COVID-19 amid the spread of the Omicron variant.

"It's the same after coming home from school. After school, immediately return to their respective homes. Don't stop by, don't play games. Omicron is not dangerous. Only, the transmission is very fast compared to the Delta variant," he added.
