JAKARTA - The implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Java-Bali has been extended for the next week until February 21, 2022. This is stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 10 of 2022.

The Director General of Regional Administration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal ZA, revealed that there were additional regions experiencing PPKM tightening to Level 3 and a decrease in the number of regions implementing Level 1 PPKM in Java-Bali.

"The number of regions with PPKM Level 3 status has increased from 41 regions to 66 regions, as well as the status of regions on PPKM Level 2 from 57 regions to 58 regions. Meanwhile, regions with PPKM Level 1 status have decreased from 30 regions to 4 regions," said Safrizal in his statement, Tuesday, February 15.

Safrizal said that the increase in the number of areas experiencing an increase in the level of assessment was caused by the condition of the occupancy of COVID-19 treatment beds, the development of cases, and the achievement of the elderly vaccination target.

The government provides an opportunity for regions with less vaccination achievements to be able to catch up with the elderly vaccination coverage so that they can experience a reduction in the PPKM assessment level again.

"Indicators for evaluating areas in Java-Bali are given specifically to be able to achieve the target of the second dose of vaccination and the elderly over 60 years, given an additional 2 weeks starting from February 15, 2022," he explained.

In general, the rules for implementing PPKM in Java-Bali are the same as before. However, there have been some capacity easing in office activities, public places, and socio-cultural activities.

In PPKM Level 3 areas, office activities can be carried out with a maximum of 50 percent work from office (WFO) for employees who have been vaccinated. The maximum setting of 50 percent also applies to children's playgrounds in malls, gyms and public places such as art and culture studios, sports venues, and social activities.

Then, for regions at PPKM Level 2, all restrictions at Level 3 are given relaxation with a maximum of 75 percent, while regions at PPKM Level 1 can operate 100 percent.

Furthermore, Safrizal emphasized that people who will carry out activities in public places must have been vaccinated with two doses. This policy is implemented in tandem with the tightening of vaccination requirements.

"Amid the increase in the positive number of COVID-19 due to the Omicron variant, the administration of vaccines is intensified to increase the body's immunity against the corona virus," he added.
