JAKARTA - Today is the last day of the implementation of the transitional PSBB period in Jakarta. DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan will announce the status of the next handling, namely the option to extend the transitional PSBB or tighten.

"Today the task force will hold a special meeting to evaluate the latest developments in the COVID-19 case in Jakarta. Later in the afternoon or evening we will deliver the results," said Anies when met in Tebet, South Jakarta, Wednesday, September 9.

Anies does not want to divulge the decision on the status of handling COVID-19 in DKI. However, he said, the condition of the corona virus outbreak in Jakarta was alarming.

"The situation is worrying in the past week," said Anies.

This situation, said Anies, was seen from the percentage of positive cases per number of specimens examined (the positivity rate) had reached 13.2 percent in the past week.

Meanwhile, the accumulative positivity rate from the beginning of the pandemic period in DKI was 6.9 percent. Meanwhile, the national positivity rate during the pandemic was at 13.9 percent.

If the positivity rate continues to increase, said Anies, active cases will also increase. What he is worried about is that the capacity for care at the COVID-19 referral hospital will be full.

"The capacity of the hospital has a limit. If the number requiring treatment is increasing day by day, above the capacity of the hospital and the number of medical personnel, then we will face big problems," explained Anies.

For information, the accumulation of COVOD-19 cases in Jakarta to date is 48,811 cases. In details, 36,451 cases recovered, 1,330 cases died, 4,432 cases were still being treated, and 6,598 cases were isolated.

DKI has extended the PSBB transitional period for five times, starting from July 3 to July 16, July 17 to July 30, July 31 to August 13, August 14 to 27, and August 28 to September 9.
