MAKASSAR - A total of 47,508 elementary school students in Makassar, South Sulawesi, have been vaccinated against dose one through activities for three weeks in rotation in several schools in the area.
Head of the Makassar Education Office, Muhyiddin Mustakim in Makassar, Thursday, said that the vaccination for elementary school students has only been running for three weeks and has not touched all schools.
"This vaccination has been running for three weeks and the progress is quite good because so far 47,508 children have been vaccinated," he said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 10.
He said students who received vaccine injections were from grades I to VI or from the age of 6-11 years.
This vaccination for elementary school students is after the local area has completed the vaccination of junior high school students at the end of 2021 or before the implementation of limited face-to-face learning (PTM).

He admits that vaccination for elementary students is to strengthen immunity when in the midst of society.
"This vaccination program is tiered and for high school and junior high school it is finished, again targeting elementary school children to strengthen their immunity," he said.
He explained that before vaccination for students, all teachers or teaching staff who meet the requirements are a priority to be given a complete vaccine injection, both the first and second doses.
"This is important, we first finish the complete vaccine teachers, the first and second doses then we target tiered to our children like junior high school and elementary school," he said.
Muhyiddin hopes that all parents or guardians of students can accompany their children and provide an understanding of the importance of the vaccine in maintaining immunity while in the midst of society.
"We hope that parents of students who will be vaccinated can accompany their children during the vaccine process, what is clear must be checked first by the medical team whether they can be vaccinated or not and this is where the important role of parents in accompanying their children is to explain the history of their child's illness if he ever falls sick," he said.
