KAPUAS HULU - The Commander of Kodim 1206 Putussibau Lieutenant Colonel Jemi Oktis Oil said his party was working with the police to investigate the cause of the fire in one of the barracks at the headquarters of the Special Raider Battalion 644/Walet Sakti Putussibau.

There were no casualties in the incident. However, a number of valuable documents such as diplomas and securities belonging to the soldiers were sold out.

"Based on eyewitnesses, the fire started from the roof around the ceiling, but it needs to be confirmed through a laboratory and investigation involving the police," said Jemi Oktis Oil when inspecting the location of the fire, Kapuas Hulu, Antara, Thursday, February 10.

Jemi Oktis was also accompanied by the Regent of Kapuas Hulu, Fransiskus Diaan. In accordance with the leadership's orders, his party has coordinated with the police to conduct an in-depth investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

According to him, the results of the investigation will later be reported as evaluation material for future improvements, so that similar incidents do not happen again.

"I have coordinated with the Kapuas Hulu Police Chief, the problem is that in Kapuas Hulu, an investigation can only be carried out based on documentation and witness statements, while for other things it is necessary to bring in a team from the Regional Police, we have conveyed this problem to the leadership," he said.

The burning building is a barracks resting place for soldiers. For a while the soldiers had occupied a number of barracks that were still empty. Of course this will be an obstacle when the soldiers who are on duty return because of the lack of facilities to rest.

"I have also conveyed to the Regent, the surrounding area may have attention from the regional government, surely the TNI leadership must also think about it, the important thing is that the process of the incident must be held accountable," said Jemi again.

He added that at the time of the fire, Danyon Raider Special 644/Walet Sakti, Lt. Col. Inf. Arisunu, was leading the troops in the task of operating a world peace mission which had been running for one year.

"Danyon is in the process of returning from his assignment, it will probably arrive at the end of February or early March and the plan will be to be greeted directly by the Military Commander, because the troops are quite successful in the area of peacekeeping operations, so there may be direct appreciation from the leadership," said Jemi.

Jemi also expressed his gratitude to all those who have worked hard to extinguish the fire when the fire occurred, from the Kapuas Hulu BPBD, Kapuas Hulu Police, Kapuas Hulu TRC and Kapuas Hulu Tagana as well as all those who have helped overcome the fire.

"We also express our gratitude for the visit of the Regent, and the Deputy Regent of Kapuas Hulu with me was directly at the scene," he said.

The barracks fire at the Special Raider Battalion Headquarters 644/Walet Sakti Putussibau occurred at around 21.20 WIB, on Wednesday, February 9 evening.
