Asking The Government To Cancel Andesite Mining In Wadas, PKB Politicians: It's Haram To Take People's Land

JAKARTA - Council member from the National Awakening Party (PKB) faction, Lukman Hakim, asked the government to cancel the plan to mine andesite stone covering an area of 124 hectares in Wadas Village, Bener District, Purworejo, Central Java (Central Java).

According to him, the government needs to conduct a comprehensive ecological study and environmental impact analysis as the basis for the andesite mining plan in Wadas Village. Is it worth the mining to continue or is it better to stop.

If it has an impact on environmental damage in Wadas Village and its surroundings, the Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR asked the government to stop the activity.

"I ask the government to be heartened to cancel the andesite mining plan in Wadas Village," said Luqman Hakim in a statement received by VOI, Thursday, February 10.

On the other hand, the Deputy Secretary General of PKB continued, if the results of the study state that andesite stone mining in Wadas Village is feasible to continue, then there should be no forced efforts to seize people's land by any party. He emphasized that people's rights to land ownership must be respected and protected.

The chairman of PP GP Ansor also mentioned the result of the 34th NU congress that seizing people's land is illegal. Therefore, Luqman reminded, the land acquisition process must be carried out by way of deliberation by guaranteeing the maximum benefit for the people who have land rights.

"The 34th NU congress decided that it is illegal to seize people's land even if it is for and in the name of the state's interests," said Luqman.

The PKB legislator for the Central Java Region VI also suggested that all activities related to the andesite mining plan in Wadas Village be stopped. So that the problems in the village can be solved clearly.

"So that the residents there can return to live and worship in peace and the children can return to school happily," said Luqman Hakim.
