People In 18 Regions Of NTT Asked To Be Alert, Heavy Rain In The Next Two Days

KUPANG - El Tari Kupang Meteorological Station, Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that 18 areas in East Nusa Tenggara were on alert for the potential for heavy rain for the next two days.

"People in 18 areas that have the potential to be hit by heavy rains need to increase their awareness of the risk of hydrometeorological disasters," said Head of the El Tari Kupang Meteorological Station Agung Sudiono Abadi in Kupang, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, February 9.

He said this coincided with weather forecasts based on the impact of heavy rains in the NTTT region on 10-11 February 2022.

Agung said areas with heavy rain alert status included Kupang City, Kupang Regency, South Central Timor, North Central Timor, Alor, Lembata, East Flores, Sikka, Ende.

In addition, Nagekeo, Ngada, East Manggarai, Manggarai, West Manggarai, East Sumba, Central Sumba, West Sumba and Southwest Sumba.

He said the potential for heavy rains must be watched out for because it can trigger hydrometeorological disasters such as floods, flash floods, landslides, and lightning strikes.
