Addition Of 593 Daily Cases Of COVID-19 In Bandung Record Since July 2021

BANDUNG - The daily increase in COVID-19 cases was 593 people in the city of Bandung, West Java on Tuesday, February 8, during the spread of the Omicron variant, which was the largest daily increase in cases since the second wave of COVID-19, July 2021.

There was also a spike in the number of daily COVID-19 cases that last occurred on July 28, 2021, as many as 645 people. So that the number of cases added to 593 people on Tuesday, February 8 was the highest record since July 28, 2021.

"As per yesterday's data, in just one day there was a spike of more than 500 cases, which is an addition to the cumulative number of active cases in the provincial capital," said Bandung City Regional Secretary Ema Sumarna as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 9.

In addition, since July 28, 2021, the number of additional COVID-19 cases has never exceeded 500 people in one day.

With the increase in the number of 593 new cases, now the number of active COVID-19 cases in the city of Bandung has increased to 2,420 people. Previously, the number of active cases had not exceeded 2,000 people since September 1, 2021.

Even though at the beginning of 2022 there was a spike in COVID-19, the death toll in the city of Bandung has only increased by 4 people since January 1, 2022.

With this spike, Ema asked the regional apparatus to really control case data at the regional level. In addition to mastering data, according to Ema, officers in the field also need to understand the standard flow of handling COVID-19 patients.

"Currently, our positivity rate is already at 4 percent, we all know that the WHO threshold is at 5 percent. Of course, this must be anticipated," he said.
