Muhammadiyah Figure Abdul Malik Fadjar Passed Away

JAKARTA - The senior Muhammadiyah figure who also led several ministries, Prof. Abdul Malik Fadjar, died.

"He died at 19.00 WIB," said General Secretary of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Abdul Mu'ti, quoted by Antara, Monday, September 7.

Abdul Mu'ti remembers the late Abdul Malik Fadjar as someone who really loved science. Mu'ti said that Professor Malik was a familiar person who promoted his dissertation.

"He is a role model for the community, people and nation. Muhammadiyah is very missing," he said.

The late Malik Fadjar was known as an educational figure. Previously served as Director General of Islamic Education at the Ministry of Religion and led him to become Minister of Religion. As a teacher, Malik was also the Minister of National Education.

Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Anwar Abbas said Malik was a staunch education fighter, tireless and always optimistic.

"Thanks to his persistence, he was able to make University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) become one of the famous private universities in this country which is not only magnificent and beautiful, but also advanced and modern," he said.
