JAKARTA - A number of regions experienced an increase in the PPKM assessment level from Level 2 to Level 3 over the next one week from February 8 to 14 in Java and Bali.

These areas include Greater Jakarta (DKI Jakarta, Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency, South Tangerang City, Bogor City, Depok City, Bekasi Regency, Bekasi City and Bogor Regency), Greater Bandung (Bandung City, Bandung Regency, Cimahi City, and Bandung Regency). West).

Meanwhile, Serang City and Pamekasan Regency in the previous week had implemented PPKM Level 3.

"In areas that are at Level 3, there has been a significant increase from 2 regions to 41 regions," said Director General of Regional Administration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal ZA in his statement, Tuesday, February 8.

Safrizal explained the reason the area could experience PPKM tightening. The tightening is obvious given the rise in COVID-19 cases.

However, there are other factors that are also indicators of increasing the level of assessment, namely weak contact tracing and an increase in the occupancy of COVID-19 referral hospital beds.

"The increase in the number of areas at Level 3 is not solely due to the increasing number of positive cases, one of which is caused by the Omicron case, but also due to the decreasing number of tracing carried out and the increase in the hospital bed occupancy rate (BOR)," he said. .

This provision is regulated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 09 of 2022 concerning PPKM Level 3, Level 2, and Level 1 COVID-19 in the Java and Bali Region issued by the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian.

Meanwhile, the number of regions implementing PPKM Level 1 and Level 2 has decreased. PPKM Level 1 is now applied to 30 regions from the previous 40 regions and PPKM Level 2 is applied to 57 regions from the previous 86 regions.
