The Former Mayor Of Tanjungbalai Will Soon Be Tried At The Medan Corruption Court In Connection With The Alleged Sale And Purchase Of Positions

JAKARTA - The former Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial will be tried at the Medan Corruption Court. This trial is related to the case of buying and selling positions that ensnared him.

Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, said Syahrial would immediately go to trial because the prosecutor's team had handed over the case file. The delegation was carried out on Monday, February 7 yesterday.

"The prosecutor's team has transferred the case files of the defendant M Syahrial to the Corruption Court at the Medan District Court," Ali told reporters, Tuesday, February.

Furthermore, the prosecutor is just waiting for the determination of the judge who will lead the trial and the timing of the reading of the indictment.

Ali said Syahrial in the bribery case of buying and selling positions was charged with Article 12 letter b of the Anti-Corruption Law or Article 11 of the Anti-Corruption Law.

In this case, the KPK named M Syahrial and Yusmada as suspects in the case of buying and selling positions. During the investigation process, the anti-corruption commission confiscated Rp100 million as evidence.

This incident began in June 2019, M Syahrial as the Mayor of Tanjungbalai issued a warrant related to the open selection of the high position of the Primary Leader of the Regional Secretary of Tanjungbalai City. Furthermore, Yusmada followed several stages of selection, in July 2019 at the Office of the Public Housing and Settlement Areas of Tanjungbalai City. There YM met Sajali Lubis who is a friend and confidant of MSA.

During the meeting, YM allegedly told Sajali Lubis to give money in the amount of Rp. 200 million to MSA and was immediately followed up by Sajali Lubis by calling MSA and then it was immediately agreed and approved by MSA.

In September 2019, YM passed and was elected as Regional Secretary of Tanjungbalai City based on the Tanjungbalai Mayor's Decree signed by MSA. Next, YM made a payment in accordance with his promise to MSA through Sajali.
