Alleged Binomo Fraud, Criminal Investigation Agency Will Check Affiliates And Influencers, Who Are They?

JAKARTA - The Directorate of Special Economic Crimes (Dittipideksus) Bareksrim Polri plans to examine affiliates and influencers who promote the Binomo trading application. This examination is related to the reporting of alleged fraud by the trading application.

"Yes, it should be (checking the affiliator, ed)," said the Director of Special Economic Crimes at the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Whisnu, when confirmed, February 7.

However, it did not specify which affiliates would be questioned. Including, inspection time. So far, Whisnu has only emphasized that this alleged fraud case is still under investigation.

"Binomo is still in the process of being investigated, still being investigated," said Whisnu.

The Binomo trading application and its affiliates were reported by eight people to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police. The report relates to allegations of fraud.

In this report, there were eight victims who suffered losses of hundreds of millions each. If the total loss reached Rp. 2.4 billion.

In that report, the Binomo trading application was suspected of violating Article 27 paragraph 2 of the Electronic Transactions Law (UU ITE) regarding online gambling, Article 28 paragraph 1 of the ITE Law regarding fake news that harms consumers, and Article 378 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 regarding fraud.

Then, Article 3, Article 5, and Article 10 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning the Crime of Money Laundering (TPPU).
