BENGKULU - The Bengkulu Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said the bad weather that occurred in most areas in Bengkulu Province was caused by a cyclonic pattern that occurred in the West Indian Ocean.

This pattern causes the formation of wind confluences (convergent areas) along the Bengkulu region. "The formation of the wind confluence occurred in Bengkulu from north to south," said Head of Data and Information of BMKG, Anang Anwar in Bengkulu, Antara, Sunday, February 6.

So that there is a slowdown in wind speed which causes the formation of very large rain clouds in the Bengkulu area. He said, rain in Bengkulu Province will occur for the next few days with medium to heavy intensity.

Anang explained, apart from being caused by a cyclonic in the West Indian Ocean, bad weather in Bengkulu was also caused by low pressure in the South Bengkulu Waters and quite strong lability.

As well as the humidity of the wet air from the bottom to the top layer in the Bengkulu atmosphere. The following areas have the potential for rain with moderate to heavy intensity accompanied by lightning and strong winds of short duration, such as Mukomuko Regency.

North Bengkulu Regency, Lebong Regency, Rejang Lebong Regency, Kepahiang Regency, Central Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu City, Seluma Regency, South Bengkulu Regency and Kaur Regency.

Anang continued, his party asked the people of Bengkulu Province to be vigilant regarding potential hydrometorological disasters such as floods and landslides.
