JAKARTA - Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Hasto Wardoyo emphasized that inmates or prisoners in prisons should not be excluded from health services.

He conveyed this at a simultaneous community service event in prisons and detention centers in 30 provinces throughout Indonesia on Saturday, February 5.

This activity is a collaboration between FK KMK UGM, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, BKKBN, YHKI, Koseindo, and other community components.

"Although we are still in the pandemic period, even in the position of increasing the spread of the Omicron virus, it does not dampen our enthusiasm to give attention and service to our brothers and sisters, inmates in prisons and remand centers," said Hasto, quoted on Sunday, February 6.

The government, together with community components, need to pay attention to the health of the inmates. This is because they will also return to their families and neighborhoods after serving their prison term.

"They are only here temporarily, and later they have to return to their families. So they must be in good health," said Hasto.

On that occasion, Hasto also mentioned the stunting reduction program according to President Joko Widodo's direction. Given, the government is targeting a golden generation in 2045.

"If we count from now on, in 2022, we have about 23 years left. There isn't much time left. This means that if a baby is born today, then in 2045, his age will be included in the productive age group, which of course is the younger generation. " said Hasto.

Therefore, Hasto hopes that all people have knowledge about the dangers of stunting so that efforts to prevent it can be achieved so that the goal of the golden generation can be achieved.

"Therefore, the factors that put a family at risk of stunting must be identified. Stunting can be prevented before pre-conception, namely 3 months before marriage, during pregnancy, postpartum and child care," he concluded.
