Commitment To Service For Female-Child Victims, National Police Chief Sigit Develops The PPA Unit To Become A Directorate Led By Bintang Satu

JAKARTA - The National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo is committed to providing the best service in handling and law enforcement of criminal acts involving women and children victims.

This was conveyed by General Sigit when receiving the Komnas Perempuan hearing at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Friday, February 4. "It is related to our attention to the problems and issues of women and children in particular. It has indeed become one of the programs that I then want to take seriously," said Sigit as quoted by Antara.

According to him, the commitment was also conveyed in the fit and proper test at the DPR RI last year. The form of commitment is shown from an institutional perspective by developing the Women and Children Service Unit (PPA) to become a separate directorate at the Bareskrim Polri and Polda levels.

"That's why I've said that now it's in the process. From a handling point of view, we want to have our own directorate," said Sigit.

He explained that the directorate which specifically handles women and children at the National Police Headquarters level was led by one star. Then expanded the level of regional police throughout Indonesia, to the police station.

The four-star general said that later, capable and qualified Polri personnel would be prepared to man the special directorate. Filled with professional and integrity staff, so as to prevent women and children from being victimized twice.

"When they interrogate, then those who handle different genders, will create new problems. So they feel they are victims twice. We will process this in the future. The process is indeed being carried out by the Kemenpan RB," he said.

However, continued Sigit, not all directorates are filled by women. However, the PPA Directorate will be dominated by female police officers (Polwan). So that in parallel, it will open up more space and opportunities for policewomen to fill positions in the internal police.

To fill the special directorate personnel will recruit members ranging from cadets and non-commissioned officers. So that filling the workspace, as well as being a place for the career development of members of the Police.

"And we have seeds in the future that will gradually be given strategic positions. This can be filled if there are many HR seeds. Because competence is important. This is our concept institutionally," said Sigit.

Sigit sees that so far, related to crime cases involving women and children, there are still communication barriers. For this reason, it is necessary to form a Liaison Officer (LO) at Komnas Perempuan.

With this assistant, Sigit said, in the future if there are complaints that require to be handled by the police, the LO will be the information liaison between Komnas Perempuan and the police.

Technically, he said, if it was approved the Police would prepare and send personnel. If there is a complaint and want to review a place, then this LO helps contact the local police chief or local police chief.

“I hope that from the police side, they can respond to the issues that occur. Because we are serious about women's and children's issues," explained Sigit.

Meanwhile, related to the judicial process, Sigit also prioritizes protection and caution against the spiritual atmosphere of the victims.

"Regarding the judicial process, it may be very sensitive, indeed, we must protect it. On the one hand, it must be resolved completely. But on the other hand, the victim's spiritual atmosphere must be maintained," said Sigit.

The former Kabareskrim also invited Komnas Perempuan to take advantage of the application provided by the National Police in order to improve and provide the best service for the wider community.

"Of course, in Propam there is Propam Precision and there is Dumas Precision. It can be integrated into Komnas. If you want to make an MoU, we are ready," concluded Sigit.
