Face-to-face School In Central Kalimantan Not Terminated Even Though Students Positive For COVID-19

PALANGKARAYA - The Acting Head of the Central Kalimantan Education Office, Ahmad Syaifudin, emphasized that face-to-face learning activities at SMAN 1 Palangkaraya City will not be stopped even though there are students who are positive for COVID-19.

"Only today there is no PTM for rapid tests on classmates of students who are exposed as well as taking other preventive measures," said Ahmad Syaifudin when contacted in Palangkaraya, reported by Antara, Friday, February 4.

"So, today the students of SMAN 1 Palangkaraya were sent home. Then, Saturday, February 5, because there were no teaching and learning activities, the rapid test results were socialized," he said.

After that, he continued, Monday, February 7, SMAN 1 Palangkaraya will be holding face-to-face learning (PTM). Where 50 percent of the total number of students study at school, and the other 50 percent at home.

"But indeed, we are still waiting for the results of today's rapid test. If there are more students who are confirmed positive for COVID-19, then according to the rules, PTM at the school will be abolished for a week," said Ahmad Syaifudin. Separately, the Principal of SMAN 1 Palangkaraya Arbusin admitted, his party received information that one of the students was exposed to COVID-19, Thursday, February 3 night. The exposed student had been sick for a week because he had co-morbidities.

He said, based on the information provided by the parents of the students, the school immediately carried out a rapid test for all students in their class who were exposed to COVID-19 and their teachers, Friday, February 4 morning.

"In addition to conducting a rapid test, a student has been exposed to COVID-19 and this rapid test has also been submitted to the Central Kalimantan Education Office, the COVID-19 Task Force, and others," said Arbusin.

He also emphasized that during the next week learning at SMAN 1 Palangka Raya will be conducted online.

"After a week of studying online, we will evaluate again. In the meantime, we can provide information," said Arbusin.
