Identity Of Murder Victim In Ciliwung River Revealed

JAKARTA - The identity of the alleged murder victim found by residents floating in the Ciliwung River, Kampung Pulo, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, Saturday, September 5, has been identified. This is obtained from information from the family who feels lost.

Launching Antara on Sunday, the man was identified as Sofian Sarif Maloko (36), a resident of Tanjung Lengkong, Jatinegara, East Jakarta.

One of the victims' families, Bella said that in Jakarta, Sarif was found to have lost contact with his family a few days before his body was found floating with injuries to his head and hands tied to ropes.

Bella admitted that she had let the incident go but asked the police to immediately resolve the case by finding the culprit.

"Our family is sincere and I wish the police all the best so that this case can be solved soon," he said.

Bella said the victim was known to have many friends and no enemies.

The deceased was buried at the Kampung Pulo Public Cemetery, South Jakarta, after the body was autopsied by the Forensic Team at the Police Hospital on Sunday morning.

Sobs colored the victim's funeral process which was attended by representatives of the extended family.

Head of East Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKBP Imron Ermawan previously said the victim was allegedly killed by the perpetrator because when he was found his hand was tied to a rope and his head was injured.

The victim's body was still fully clothed floating on the surface of the river, supine and partially rotting.

"There were wounds on his head and hands tied with ropes. The suspicion is that he was murdered," he said.
