JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will follow the central government's decision to change face-to-face learning (PTM) with a capacity of 100 percent to 50 percent in Level 2 PPKM areas.

However, this policy does not fully fulfill the wishes of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. Anies proposed to the central government to stop PTM 100 percent and students fully implement distance learning (PJJ).

"Because DKI PPKM is Level 2, so we follow it. Automatically it will be carried out with a blended learning approach. Some (students) are partly (students) at home and some at school," said Head of Public Relations of the DKI Education Office, Taga Radja Gah when contacted, Thursday, 3 February.

Therefore, currently the ranks of the DKI Education Office in the field of schooling will immediately conduct outreach to school principals throughout Jakarta to discuss the 50 percent PTM mechanism.

"After that, the principal will socialize in their respective school groups. We have networking networks from the provinces, sub-districts, to each school," said Taga.

Previously, regions that implemented PPKM Level 2 were given the discretion to stop 100 percent PTM and replace it with 50 percent Limited PTM.

This decision was made following a proposal from the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan who asked for 100 percent PTM in the capital to be temporarily suspended and replaced with 100 percent PJJ. This proposal was not fully accepted.

"Starting today, regions with PPKM level 2 are approved to be given discretion to be able to adjust PTM with 100 percent student capacity to 50 percent student capacity," said Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture Suharti in his statement. Suharti explained, there was an emphasis on the word "can" in this discretionary policy. This means, not all regions have to change the capacity of PTM to 50 percent.

"For PPKM level 2 areas that are ready to implement Limited PTM in accordance with the Decree of the Four Ministers and the spread of COVID-19 is under control, schools in these areas can still implement Limited PTM with 100 percent student capacity," he explained.

Furthermore, Suharti explained that the implementation of Limited PTM in PPKM level 1, level 3, and level 4 areas still follows the existing Four Ministerial SKB.
