Sampit Immigration Secures 2 Pakistani Citizens Asking For Donations To Mosque Management

SAMPIT - The Immigration Team Class II TPI Sampit has detained two foreign nationals from Pakistan who are considered disturbing the public because they asked for donations to mosque administrators in Sampit, East Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan.

"They are not allowed to carry out such activities because the permit application is for business and tourism purposes. This raises anxiety so we take action. If there is incriminating evidence, it will be processed according to the rules," said Head of the Class II Immigration Office TPI Sampit, Bugie Kurniawan in Sampit quoted by Antara, Thursday, 3 February.

Bugie said that the two men from Pakistan were ASH (36) with a visit stay permit valid until 17 February 2022 and IUH (28) whose visit stay permit was valid until 20 February 2022.

They were reported by residents last Friday (28/1) because they were considered disturbing. They asked for donations to mosques to buy Al-Quran in Braille for the blind Kashmiri Indian war refugees who were in refugee camps in Pakistan.

The requested donation is IDR 3.5 million with the reason to buy 30 juz of Braille Al-Quran. Residents are restless because they will not go if they have not been given the money according to the requested money.

Receiving the report, the Intelligence Section of the Class II Immigration Office of TPI Sampit conducted a search in the Mentawa Baru District of Ketapang and its surroundings but had not found the whereabouts of the two Pakistani nationals. At that time, the team coordinated with the team leader from BAIS in charge of the East Kotawaringin area to help carry out the search.

On Wednesday, February 2, the Head of the Intelligence and Security Unit of the East Kotawaringin Police along with his team visited and informed them about the two foreigners. According to the information obtained, the two foreigners asked for donations by forcing them to the mosques they visited, causing public unrest.

Furthermore, the team collaborated with the East Kotawaringin Police to find the whereabouts of the two Pakistani citizens and asked for help from several Polsek in the East Kotawaringin area. The team later received information that the two were staying at a hotel in Sampit.

When the team arrived, one Pakistani citizen was taking care of the administration to leave the hotel, but was immediately taken into custody for questioning, while another person was picked up while still in the hotel room.

The two of them were then taken and placed in the Class II Immigration Office Detention Room TPI Sampit for further investigation regarding the residence permit used and the purpose of the two.

"Until now, we are still carrying out inspections related to immigration documents. If violations are found, they will be processed according to applicable laws with threats of sanctions up to deportation and ban," explained Bugie Kurniawan.

Bugie also appreciates the people of East Kotawaringin who care about the surrounding environment by reporting the presence and activities of foreigners in their area.

"My hope is that in the future the community will continue to care about their environment and play an active role in reporting the presence and activities of foreigners in their territory, especially East Kotawaringin in order to maintain the stability and security of our beloved NKRI," said Bugie Kurniawan.
