JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Social Service has started distributing social assistance (bansos) for residents who are self-isolating (isoman) due to exposure to COVID-19. This social assistance distribution was again carried out after an increase in cases due to the spread of the Omicron variant.

Head of the Social Security Section of the DKI Social Service, Ahmad Taufiq, said that the social assistance provided was in the form of basic necessities to meet the daily needs of residents who were forced to be unable to leave their homes because they were in isolation.

"The type of social assistance has been determined. For those who are isoman, these are basic necessities in the form of 20 kilograms of rice, 2 liters of oil, 7 cans of sardines, canned biscuits and one box of instant noodles," Taufiq said when contacted, Thursday, February 3.

Taufiq said that one social assistance package would be given to each household (KK). There are already 940 food packages for 56 urban villages that have applied for the distribution of social assistance.

Currently, the DKI Social Services Agency has a stock of 18 thousand social assistance packages which are the remainder from the distribution of basic food assistance during the surge in COVID-19 cases in mid-2021. This stock will be added back if needed.

"We plan to resubmit if the existing stock is only 5 thousand. Maybe we will reapply for additional food packages because it is predicted that (isoman residents) will be high in February to March," he explained.

There is also a budget for basic food assistance for isoman residents from Jakarta's unexpected expenditures (BTT). This year, DKI has a BTT budget of IDR 434 billion.

The way to get basic food assistance starts from reporting to the local RT and RW by attaching a certificate from the puskesmas regarding the person in question currently undergoing self-isolation.

After that, the RT-RW will forward the report to the lurah. Then, the lurah will write to the Social Service to collect basic food packages and distribute them to sufferers of self-isolation.
