Heartache Billed By Debt Man In Ambon Stabs Collector's Leg, Dies Due To Running Out Of Blood

AMBON - The Ambon Island City Police have named Valentino Gosal (42) as a suspect in the alleged crime of serious mistreatment that killed the victim Michael Rahakbauw (36).

The police arrested the suspect under Article 355 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code. This article carries a maximum prison sentence of 15 years.

"The suspect, who has been detained by investigators from the Ambon Island Police and PP Lease, is also charged with Article 561 paragraph (3) with the threat of seven years in prison," said Head of the Public Relations Sub-section of the local Police, Iptu I. Leatemia in Ambon, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, February 2.

The determination of Valentino as a suspect after the person concerned committed a crime against the victim on Tuesday, February 1 at around 12:30 WIT in the Mangga Dua area, Sirimau District (Ambon City).

At that time the victim was at the house of witness Jekroy Telussa's family and the suspect came with a machete.

"The perpetrator felt hurt because the victim asked the perpetrator to pay off the debt, so the perpetrator then went to the victim, who was currently at Witness Jekroy's house while holding a machete," said Leatemia.

At that time, witness Carlos Ohello had intervened with the suspect, but he immediately threw the victim using the machete at a distance of approximately two meters and hit the victim's inner left thigh. After throwing the victim with a machete, the suspect immediately fled and returned to his house.

As a result, the victim was bleeding profusely and eventually died after being evacuated to the Army Hospital, dr. Latumeten Ambon.

The evidence that was secured by the police was a machete and a pair of trousers belonging to the victim which were covered in blood.

Valentino was then picked up and secured by the Ambon Island Police Quick Reaction Police personnel.
