PPKM Extended Tomorrow, Requirements For Downgrading Areas Changed

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menkomarinves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the government had changed the indicators that required the reduction in the PPKM assessment level.

As is known, the implementation of PPKM in Java and Bali as well as outside Java and Bali ends today and will be extended tomorrow.

Luhut said the government would continue to use the 6 indicators that became the WHO standard, but would also give greater weight in determining the level of hospitalization indicators.

"This step is taken as an incentive to the Regional Government to encourage patients who are asymptomatic or OTG and have mild symptoms not to enter the hospital so that the assessment level is also in a fairly good condition," Luhut said in a virtual press conference, Monday, January 31.

In addition, said Luhut, this step will also maintain economic recovery efforts, while ensuring that our health capacity remains in a safe condition.

Luhut continued, the government also changed the indicator requirements to enter level 1 and 2, from the first dose of vaccination to complete vaccination.

"This is done to accelerate dose 2 vaccination in regencies and cities that are still lagging behind," said Luhut.

Currently, there are still 22 districts/cities with the general second dose of vaccination under 50 percent and 29 districts/cities with the second dose for the elderly still below 40 percent.

Luhut said the provisions would take effect from this week. However, the government will provide a transition period of 2 weeks for districts/cities to achieve this target.

"Using this latest assessment, changes to the district-city level can be seen in detail in the Java-Bali Ministry of Home Affairs which will be published today," said Luhut.
