Weather Forecast: Light Rain In Jakarta And Heavy Rain In Some Cities

JAKARTA - A number of areas in Indonesia have the potential to experience heavy rains that can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds, such as those on the islands of Sumatra, Java, and Kalimantan, according to forecasts from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

Quoted from www.bmkg.go.id on Monday, January 31, the areas in West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Central Java, D.I. Yogyakarta, East Java, and Bali are forecast to experience heavy rains.

Heavy rain that can be accompanied by lightning and wind also has the potential to occur in West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua, and Papua.

Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta, South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi and Southeast Sulawesi have the potential to experience rain with a lighter intensity.

BMKG also predicts that areas in West Sulawesi have the potential to experience strong winds.

Especially for the DKI Jakarta area, BMKG warned that there is the potential for light rain to occur in West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta during the day. The North Jakarta area will experience it in the early morning and the Thousand Islands at night and in the early morning.

The BMKG also reminded a number of areas to be in the alert category for the impact of heavy rains such as today's floods, namely in West Sumatra, Jambi, South Sumatra, Lampung, West Java, Central Java, D.I. Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara.
