JAKARTA - The police continue to explore the mode of pretending to be limp to extort the perpetrator AF (46) in East Jakarta (Jaktim). The East Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Budi Sartono, said his party was investigating allegations that the same actions were carried out in other places.

"So we are still investigating whether the person concerned has been carried out in another place or at another crime scene (tkp) we are still investigating," said Kombes Budi to reporters at the East Jakarta Metro Police, Sunday, January 30.

Budi said that based on the initial examination, AF had only carried out the extortion action once.

"Indeed, according to a new confession, the person concerned. But it is possible that there are other crime scenes, because there is a mode like that," he said.

The police chief explained that the modus operandi of the perpetrator by pretending to be limping started from an old wound in 2012. The perpetrator had experienced a truck crash that resulted in his leg being deformed.

"Indeed (the perpetrator) has an injury, but the wound is an old wound. So in 2012 the suspect was hit by a truck, so his leg had a defect in it, so there was a deformity in his leg, so he limped a bit," he said.

With the condition of the old wound, the perpetrator took advantage of it by looking for a victim of pretending to be limp. This is done so that people who see it can be tricked.

"The mode by the suspect, if indeed the potential victim shows the leg that was injured," he said.

But when the perpetrator acted, the people who saw it did not respond. Residents say the perpetrator is lying.

Residents then asked the driver to leave because the road was already congested due to the perpetrators stopping the car.

This action went viral on social media until finally the East Jakarta Metro Police formed a team to hunt down the perpetrators of the extortion. The police then arrested the perpetrators in the Depok area, Sunday, January 30, at 01.00 WIB.

"We carried out an investigation, members of the East Jakarta Police and the Pasar Rebo Police combed the crime scene to the beginning (until finally) the pursuit and arrest of the suspect in the Depok area," he continued.

For his actions, the perpetrators were charged with Articles 368 and 318 of the Criminal Code.

"The articles that we apply are Article 368 and Article 168 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 4 years and 9 years," said the Police Chief.
