JAKARTA - The Directorate of General Crimes (Ditkrimum) of the Central Java Police has revealed a case of theft in the jamming mode of ATM card holes, which has been considered to make customers restless.

Director of General Crime (Dirkrimum) Central Java Police Kombes Pol Djuhandani said the locations targeted by the perpetrators were ATM machines at gas stations and minimarkets.

"The group of perpetrators acted in eleven different locations spread across three provinces, Banten, West Java and Central Java. We have arrested three perpetrators, while one person is still being pursued (DPO).” explained Djuhandani through a statement received via short message, Friday, January 28.

The perpetrators who were caught were EA (40) a resident of Tangerang, JA (42) a resident of Lampung, and FR (39) a resident of Tanggamus, Lampung.

"The three have different roles in carrying out their actions, EA propped up the ATM machine with a toothpick and exchanged the victim's ATM card, while the other two perpetrators peeked at the victim's ATM card pin number," said Djuhandani.

While carrying out the action in Jepara, said Djuhandani, the perpetrator stole Rp35 million from the victim's savings, named Saeful Zani.

"The public is advised to maintain the confidentiality of the ATM card PIN and not to easily believe if there are unknown people who want to offer assistance at the ATM machine," Djuhandani explained.
