JAKARTA - Viral on social media about accusations against online taxi drivers who are called pretending to be victims of mugging when they hit two perpetrators. However, the Polda Metro Jaya denied the allegations.

The accusation emerged after the Twitter account @imcutieaw uploaded a video showing a video clip of the crash news.

The account wrote a narrative as if the online taxi driver was not a mugging victim.

"Remember this viral news, don't you? 3 months ago, an ojol (car) hit two people who snatched? slander the driver who has died :)," wrote the account quoted by VOI, Friday, January 28

However, the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan denied the allegation. The mugging was true and took place in October 2021.

"Three months ago, the case was a robbery, in accordance with Article 363 of the Criminal Code," said Zulpan.

The investigative team has also obtained evidence of the crime of mugging. One of them is CCTV footage.

"There is evidence of the incident, there are witnesses and then there is also CCTV footage owned by investigators," added Zulpan.

However, the handling of this case has been discontinued. The reason, the perpetrator of the robbery has died.

"Then for that case the police have carried out SP3 or terminated the investigation because 2 people died," said Zulpan.
