JAKARTA - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto said two warships (KRI) belonging to the Indonesian Navy, namely KRI Teluk Mandar 514 and KRI Teluk Turtle 513 would be auctioned because they were no longer suitable for use.
"On this occasion, we will convey the chronology of the request for abolition using the auction transfer mechanism from KRI Teluk Turtle 513 made in Korea in 1980 and KRI Teluk Mandar 514 made in Korea in 1980," Prabowo said in a Working Meeting with Commission I DPR quoted Antara, Thursday, 27 January.
The meeting which discussed the approval of the sale of State Property, KRI Teluk Mandar 514 and KRI Teluk Turtle 513 at the Ministry of Defense, was also attended by Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani and Kasal Admiral TNI Yudo Margono.
According to him, the Navy has also formed a team to conduct research on the two former warships. The result is a sales plan.
"Following up on the abolition plan, the Indonesian Navy has formed a research team," said the former Danjen Kopassus.
According to him, technically the condition of the ship is not suitable for use because many ship buildings are porous.
"Technically, the material conditions are not suitable for use and many pipes are porous," Prabowo said.
In fact, the condition of machinery, electricity and navigation equipment can no longer be used. So it is not efficient to be able to repair the existing damage.
"Machinery, electricity, communication navigation equipment and instruments on the bridge can no longer be used. The condition of the platform is not suitable for use, and it is inefficient to be repaired or replaced," said Prabowo.
He explained that there was no option to make repairs, so it was recommended to the TNI Commander to be transferred with an auction sale.
The estimated value of the selling or auction limit of KRI Teluk Turtle 513 is Rp.4.91 billion with an acquisition value of Rp.121.03 billion.
Meanwhile, KRI Teluk Mandar 514 has a selling or auction limit of IDR 695 million with an acquisition value of IDR 121.90 billion.
"By underlining that the condition of KRI Teluk Turtle 513 and KRI Teluk Mandar 514 was heavily damaged and this removal did not interfere with the main tasks and functions of the Indonesian Navy," Prabowo said.
