MANOKWARI - The Special Team (Timsus) of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Dit Reskrimum) of the West Papua Regional Police arrested three perpetrators of breaking into and stealing safes containing official travel money from the Secretariat of the General Elections Commission (KPU) of West Papua.

Deputy Director of General Criminal Investigation (Wadir Reskrimum) of the West Papua Regional Police AKBP Robertus A. Pandiangan said the three perpetrators were arrested based on Police Report (LP) No: 200/XII/2021 PB/SPKT/Date 27 December 2021.

"On the basis of the LP, three perpetrators with the initials DUT (45), NBA (49) and GGH (19) were arrested on January 22, 2022 and named suspects after the completion of two pieces of evidence from the investigators' examination," said Pandiangan, quoted by Antara, Wednesday. , January 26.

The chronology of events begins with surveillance, the destruction of the CCTV of the West Papua KPU office, to the burglary of a safe that occurred between 25 and 26 December 2021 at the West Papua KPU office in Arfai, South Manokwari District.

"The suspects carried out surveillance on Saturday, December 25, while vandalizing CCTV, cutting trellises and breaking into a safe containing IDR 60,200,000 cash on Sunday, December 26 at around 23:00 WIT," he said.

After stealing Rp60,200,000 worth of money, the three suspects threw the empty safe into a ravine around the Manokwari Mountain forest.

"The results of the examination revealed that the occupations of suspects NBA (49) and DUT (45) were ASN employees and active temporary workers at one of the Manokwari Regency Government services, while the suspect GGH (19) was still a high school student," he said.

There was also evidence that was secured in the form of a safe, one sheet of land certificate belonging to the West Papua Provincial Government, one STNKB sheet, iron trellis, and one unit of the red Toyota Avanza car used by the three suspects when testifying.

"The cash in the safe of Rp. 60,200,000 has been used up by the suspects. It is known that the money in the safe is money for the official trip of the West Papua KPU Secretariat," said Pandiangan.

Furthermore, the three suspects were charged with Article 363 Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 9 years in prison.
