Overwhelmed By Prosecuting Corruption Cases, KPK Finally Gets Additional 61 Prosecutors

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri revealed that currently, his institution has received an additional 61 public prosecutors (JPU) from the Attorney General's Office. This addition is said to ease the work of prosecuting the KPK.

This was conveyed by Firli during a working meeting with Commission III of the DPR, Wednesday, January 26. He said dozens of these prosecutors would be sworn in.

"Some time ago we received an addition from the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia as many as 61 public prosecutors to join the KPK," said Firli in a meeting held at the parliament complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta.

Firli revealed that these 61 prosecutors had graduated and were able to work at the KPK to prosecute the perpetrators of the corruption crimes he investigated.

"Because it has been declared eligible and has passed, in the near future we will inaugurate the public prosecutor," he said.

The former deputy for prosecution for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the addition of prosecutor personnel was very meaningful for his institution. Moreover, the anti-corruption commission is often overwhelmed due to a shortage of people.

"Why is this important, because we experienced a bottleneck related to the settlement of cases after the investigation," said Firli.

"The case file is complete but there are fewer public prosecutors, so we need to add a public prosecutor. Thank God it was fulfilled," added Firli.

In addition to the prosecutor, he also revealed that there will be additional employees as well. "Besides that, there are other civil servants who have joined the KPK," he concluded.
