Inaugurate Christian Religious Experts Council, PKS: We Protect Diversity

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) inaugurated a number of members of the Expert Council, Monday (24/1/2022) the inauguration ceremony was attended by PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu.

There is something interesting about the inauguration of the PKS Expert Council, one of its members is Evalina Heryanti who is a Christian. As many people know that PKS is an Islamic party.

Member of the House of Representatives Commission III of the PKS Faction Nasir Djamil said that Evalina's joining PKS was a common occurrence in one political party. Nasir admitted that PKS is not a party that divides people with certain religions in politics.

“Political parties belong to the people, so anyone has the right to join a party of their choosing. So the joining of Evalina, who is a Christian, is a normal thing," Nasir told Voi.id, Tuesday, January 25.

Nasir explained that this phenomenon is not the first because in areas where the majority of the population is Christian, the chairman of the PKS DPD is also a Christian.

“This also happened in the last 2019 election, where PKS candidates, especially in areas with a non-Muslim majority population, were Christians. And this is also done by other parties, "he explained.

He also admitted that it was the duty of a party in a democratic country to maintain diversity and not divide one's democratic rights with religion.

"We don't want open party fanfare or the like, but what's important is that our job as a political party is to maintain diversity and diversity," he concluded.

Meanwhile, Evalina Heryanti said she was happy to join PKS.

"I am very happy and proud to join the PKS Expert Council in the field of sports and achievements," said Eva, who was once the Data Analysis and Assistance Team of the NOC of Indonesia for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after being inaugurated.

He also explained that joining the Council of Experts is proof that PKS is a political party that is open to all children of the nation regardless of ethnicity, religion and class.

"Praise God, I appreciate PKS, where this party is known as a party whose voters are Muslim, but as a Christian I can enter as a member of the Expert Council," said Eva.
