If The Location Is Not Facilitated, Luhut Says That Residents Should Not Enter

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments as well as the Coordinator for the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities or PPKM Java Bali Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan asked the public not to enter public places without PeduliLindung facilities.

"That's later the Minister of Health will announce malls or shops or restaurants that do not use PeduliLindung. And that, don't go there because there will be a risk of transmission," Luhut said in an online press statement resulting from a limited PPKM evaluation meeting in Jakarta, Monday, January 24.

According to Luhut, the use of the PeduliLindung application is also the reason why the cases of omicron in Indonesia are relatively low.

Similar to PeduliLindung, the use of Covid Passes implemented in France has also been able to boost vaccination rates in the country.

"In comparison, the death rate and daily treatment in France are lower with the presence of COVID Passes than if they did not exist. For this reason, the government will continue to use, passively and tighten the use of the PeduliLindung application, especially in dealing with this variant of Omicron," he said.

The Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Handling the Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPC PEN) also said the government always tries to take appropriate and measurable steps.

The government also uses data to analyze and predict what might happen in the future.

Luhut stated that data from various countries today increasingly shows that the omicron variant provides a risk of treatment and also a fairly low mortality rate.

However, the speed with which this variant infects causes the number of daily cases to increase sharply and has the potential to increase the number of hospitalizations in the near future, threatening the hospital care facility system.

"The key here is our discipline. Without discipline, we will become victims of our indiscipline," he said.
