Nausea, Vomiting After Eating Rice Box, 14 Residents Of Lebak Banten Are Treated At The Cijaku Health Center

BANTEN - A total of 14 residents suspected of being poisoned after eating boxed rice in Cijaku District, Lebak Regency, Banten Province, are still undergoing intensive care at the local health center.

"We hope that today they can return home and gather with their family members," said Head of Cijaku Health Center Susilo Supriyanto when contacted from Rangkasbitung, Antara, Sunday, January 23.

One of the patients undergoing treatment, Enih, said that his condition improved after being hospitalized at the puskesmas. He no longer felt dizzy, nauseous, and wanted to vomit. He wished he could return home this afternoon. "Because his condition has improved," he said.

Susilo explained that on last Friday there were 85 people who complained of pain after eating boxed rice from a building shop celebration event in the Cijaku area. They generally experience symptoms of illness such as dizziness, nausea, and vomiting.

According to Susilo, as many as 71 of the 85 adults and children who complained of being sick after eating the boxed rice had been declared cured and were allowed to return home on Saturday, January 22.

Susilo is grateful that the people were immediately taken to the puskesmas after they were suspected of having food poisoning so that they could immediately get the medical help they needed.

"If they are slow to go to the puskesmas, they are sure to be severely dehydrated, and can cause fatalities," he said.

According to him, samples of food consumed by people suspected of being poisoned have been sent to the Regional Health Laboratory and the results will be submitted on Tuesday, January 25.

The Head of the Communicable Disease Prevention Division at the Lebak Regency Health Office, Firman Rahmatullah, appreciated the fast handling of the suspected food poisoning case in Cijaku.

"Residents who experience mass poisoning are quickly treated by medical personnel at the local health center so that there are no fatalities," he said.
