7 Companies Withdraw 29 Thousand Vehicles Due To Damaged Components

JAKARTA - Audi, BMW, and five other companies in South Korea will voluntarily recall more than 29,000 vehicles to repair faulty components, the country's transport ministry said.

This is the latest in a series of recalls by automakers operating in South Korea due to problems with vehicle components.

Seven companies, including Stellantis Korea, Honda Motor Co., Tesla Korea, MAN Truck & Bus Korea, and Hyundai Motor Co., recalled 29,092 units of 26 different models, South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport said in a statement.

Stellantis is a joint venture formed through the merger of American automaker Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and French automaker PSA Groupe.

Issues that arose included the software of the engine control unit in the Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV imported by Stellantis Korea, a faulty hood latch in the Honda Pilot SUV, and a faulty central gateway control unit in the Audi Q5 45 TFSI quattro SUV, the statement said.

Vehicle owners can call or visit designated repair and service centers to replace parts free of charge from Thursday, the ministry said.
