LPSK: The Attack On The Ciracas Police Station Is Categorized As A Terrorist Act

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), Edwin Partogi, considered that the attack on the Ciracas Police and Pasar Rebo Police, on Saturday, August 29, was an act of terror. It is hoped that similar actions will not happen again.

This is because in addition to causing material loss, this attack and destruction has created fear in the community around the scene.

"This is categorized as an act of terror," said Edwin in a written statement to reporters, Tuesday, September 1.

His belief was even stronger after seeing the CCTV footage in front of his office. In the CCTV footage, the money was directed at the Jalan Raya Bogor crossing, when the incident took place, dozens of people were seen using motorbikes trying to block the road and asking a number of road users to turn around.

Edwin said that dozens of people were seen holding objects that were suspected of being iron or sharp weapons. The recording also shows an assailant stepping on a stopped car.

"I can feel the fear of road users because they are being terrorized, even the LPSK car that was boarded by an employee who had just returned from an assignment of protection activities almost became victims of tantrums," he said.

Furthermore, he said the CCTV footage would be handed over to investigators in an effort to assist in the process of investigating the attack and vandalism of the Ciracas Police and Pasar Rebo Police.

As for the victims, LPSK said that all parties who were victims in the incident had the right to get restitution (compensation) from the perpetrator.

Edwin said that his party is ready to facilitate the victims to get their rights. So that at this time, LPSK is proactively carrying out investigations and collecting data on victims who have suffered losses as a result of the attack allegedly carried out by a number of TNI personnel.

"Today, we deployed a team to coordinate with the Ciracas and Pasar Rebo police to gather data and information related to the losses suffered by a number of victims. The team will also meet the victims and witnesses of the incident directly, ”he concluded.
