Jasa Raharja Guarantees Victims Of Deadly Accidents In Muara Rapak Balikpapan Get Compensation

BALIKPAPAN - PT Jasa Raharja guarantees that all residents who experience traffic accidents at the Muara Rapak traffic light intersection, Balikpapan, East Kalimantan will receive compensation, both injured and dead.

"Jasa Raharja is very concerned about this disaster. We also offer our deepest condolences for the people who died," said PT Jasa Raharja President Director Rivan A Purwantono in a statement quoted by Antara, Friday, January 21.

Data from the Head of Sub-Directorate for Gakkum Ditlantas Polda Kaltim revealed that four people died and a number of people were injured.

The accident is thought to have been caused by the brake failure of the container truck causing it to hit a four-wheeled vehicle and a motorcycle.

The residents who were injured and died, he said, were currently at Khanujoso General Hospital, Beriman Hospital, and Ibnu Sina Hospital.

Jasa Raharja immediately coordinated with the Ditlantas Polda Kaltim and reviewed the location of the incident and visited the referral hospital to collect data on all residents.

"There is no need to worry about the cost of hospital treatment, because Jasa Raharja has provided a guarantee letter to the hospital so that it can take good care of the residents who had the accident," said Rivan.

According to Rivan, all residents who had an accident received a guarantee from Jasa Raharja in accordance with Law No. 34 of 1964. This is a form of implementation of the Government's Basic Protection Program for citizens who have an accident.

In accordance with the law, Jasa Raharja provides accident compensation to every person who dies/permanently disabled due to an accident caused by road traffic transportation, whether on land, sea, or air.

The compensation comes from the Road Traffic Accident Fund Compulsory Contribution (SWDKLLJ) which is paid by the public every year and the mandatory public transport passenger fee.

The types of accidents guaranteed by Jasa Raharja are accidents involving two or more motorized vehicles, people who are hit by motorized vehicles, and passenger accidents on public transportation.

Jasa Raharja does not provide compensation for material losses on vehicles that experience accidents, single personal vehicle accidents or accidents caused by criminal acts.

According to Rivan, the heirs of the citizens who died will receive compensation of Rp. 50 million, while for those who were injured, they received treatment costs through the hospital a maximum of Rp. 20 million.

"Jasa Raharja is conducting a survey of the heirs of the residents who died after collecting data on the identities of each resident who had the accident," he explained.
