KUDUS - Kudus Police Traffic Unit, Central Java, destroyed 160 non-standard two-wheeled vehicle exhausts (brong) for violating Law No. 22/2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation and disturbing the public.

"We will destroy the non-standard exhaust by cutting it into several pieces so that it is no longer used," said Head of Traffic at the Kudus Police, AKP Galuh Pandu Pandega, quoted by Antara, Friday, January 21.

As many as 160 non-standard exhausts, he said, were the result of prosecution since early January 2022.

The target for the raid on the Brong motorbike, he said, was uncertain because his staff was assigned to perform random operations and some were patrolling around various locations.

Before conducting a raid on motorcycles with Brong exhausts, the Kudus Polres Satlantas also conducted socialization to the public not to use non-standard exhausts.

"We urge the owners of motorcycle spare parts shops and those who specialize in selling motorcycle exhaust to stop selling Brong exhausts so as not to cause noise on the streets," he said.

Meanwhile, the rules that can take action against motorists with exhaust that do not meet the manufacturer's standards are stated in the Traffic and Road Transport Law, article 285 Paragraph 1.

Article 285 Paragraph 1 explains that every motorcycle rider who does not meet the technical and road-worthy requirements such as mirrors, headlights, brake lights, horns, speed gauges, and exhausts will be punished with imprisonment for a maximum of 1 month or a fine of a maximum of IDR 250 thousand. .
