JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health has issued a Circular Number HK.02.01/MENKES/18/2022 regarding the Prevention and Control of the Omicron Variant of COVID-19 Cases. This SE is set on January 17, 2022.

Director of Prevention and Control of Directly Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Siti Nadia Tarmizi revealed, this SE determined that patients who were confirmed positive for the Omicron variant could self-isolate at home.

"The provisions for the prevention and control of COVID-19 now refer to the new circular, one of which is about self-isolation," said Nadia in her statement, Friday, January 21.

There are a number of conditions for Omicron patients to be able to self-isolate (isoman). First, the Omicron cases that are allowed by isoman are classified as asymptomatic (OTG) and mild symptoms.

Then, they must be 45 years of age and under, have no comorbidities, be able to access telemedicine or other health services, and commit to remaining isolated before being allowed out.

"Meanwhile, in terms of housing and other supporting equipment, patients must be able to live in separate rooms, even better if the floors are separate, there is a bathroom in a separate house with other residents of the house; and can access a pulse oximeter," said Nadia.

Then, if the Omicron patient does not meet the clinical and home requirements, the patient must be isolated in a centralized isolation facility. During isolation, the patient must be under the supervision of the local health center or task force.

"Centralized isolation is carried out in public facilities prepared by the central government, regional government, or the private sector coordinated by the Puskesmas and the health office," she said.

To date, the Ministry of Health noted that as of January 20, 1.078 cases of Omicron have been detected in Indonesia. In detail, as many as 756 cases are foreign travel agents (PPLN), 257 local transmissions, and 65 cases are still being identified.
