GARUT - The Government of Garut Regency, West Java has prepared isolation rooms and treatment in hospitals and other places such as hotels to anticipate the surge in cases of COVID-19, the Omicron variant.

"We have also prepared places for treatment and isolation in case of a spike, hospitals are ready, especially RSUD Dr. Slamet, Guntur, and Medina," said Secretary of the Garut District Health Office Leli Yuliani when contacted by reporters in Garut, Antara, Thursday, January 20.

He said the Garut Regency Government has prepared isolation places such as flats, the Islamic Center Building for patients who show mild symptoms, and hospitals for patients with severe symptoms.

In addition to the urban area of Garut, the isolation area will also be prepared in the southern area of Garut, namely the Pameungpeuk Hospital. The government also rents hotels that are reasonably priced for treating patients with mild or asymptomatic symptoms.

"The hotel will be used if there is a spike, because in the south there is Pameungpeuk Hospital, but the hospital is for patients with moderate and severe symptoms, those with mild or asymptomatic symptoms will be directed to isolation," he said.

He added that the community health centers (puskesmas) in each sub-district would be used for isolation rooms when the hospital was full.

"If the hospital and the centralized isolation area are full, the puskesmas will be used again, but that is the last option," said Leli.

The ranks have anticipated the threat of an Omicron outbreak, including a spike in COVID-19 cases due to the Christmas and New Year holiday seasons. However, during the holiday season, he said, there were not too many new cases of COVID-19.

Moreover, during this time, he said, Garut is a tourist destination from various regions such as Jakarta and the high mobilization of Garut residents so it is necessary to watch out for Omicron transmission.

"We continue to urge people to obey the prokes, because now it's starting to loosen again like normal life and many are taking off their masks," said Leli Yuliani.
