MALANG - A resident of Klojen Subdistrict, Malang City, East Java, with the initials YR (37) was arrested by the Malang City Resort Police (Polresta) in connection with cases of sexual intercourse and molestation against seven children in the area.

Malang City Police Chief, Kombes Budi Hermanto, said that of the seven victims aged between 12-15 years, six children were sexually assaulted and molested, while another was molested.

"Of the seven victims, there were six children who were sexually assaulted and molested. One other victim received obscene treatment by the perpetrator," Budi said at a press conference, Thursday, January 20.

The perpetrator, said Budi, was a dance studio teacher in the Klojen sub-district, Malang City. The victims, the majority of whom were junior high school (SMP) students, were students from the dance studio where the perpetrator taught.

He added that the modus operandi used by the perpetrator against the victim was to do meditation so that the dance studio students could dance well. The victims, who were underage, were then invited to the second floor of the studio where they were sexually assaulted and raped.

"The perpetrator's mode is to pretend to meditate with a certain ritual. If the victim obeys, he is promised to become a good jaranan dancer. However, the children were molested and sexually assaulted by the perpetrator," he said.

The victims, who are 12-15 years old on average, belong to the same dance group as the perpetrators. According to the victim's confession, the suspect's actions were carried out two to three times against each victim.

"Some were raped and molested twice, even three times. Victims were lured in the hope that they would become better dancers by performing these rituals," he said. -18 January 2022. In the dance studio where the actor taught, there were 62 students consisting of 21 female students and 41 male students. The police asked that if there were other victims, they were expected to report to the Malang City Police.
