TABANAN - The Kediri Police Team, Tabanan Regency, Bali, arrested a man named Saba Ora (29) who stole money and cigarettes at a shop. The proceeds of the theft were used to treat a friend's birthday.

"Coincidentally, that day there was a friend's birthday in Gianyar. He bought him a drink (beer)," said Kediri Police Chief Kompol Fachmi Hamdani, Thursday, January 20.

The theft occurred on Monday, January 17 at the Banjar Taman Sari Anyar minimarket, Kediri, Tabanan.

"Furthermore, the victim reported the incident to the Kediri Police for further treatment," said Fachmi.

"The victim suffered a loss of IDR 8 million and the evidence that was secured was a broken door latch, a bag where the victim's money was stored and a cellphone," he said.

The perpetrators were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code. The maximum penalty is 7 years in prison.
