JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) noted that as many as 5 sub-districts became the areas that dominated the spread of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 case in Jakarta.

The sub-district which is the red zone for the spread of Omicron in the capital city, according to the Ministry of Health's data, has Omicron cases in the range of 8 to 14 cases.

"The distribution of Omicron cases in DKI Jakarta is dominated by residents of Cilandak, Kalideres, Kebon Jeruk, Kebayoran Baru, Senen sub-districts," the Ministry of Health said, quoted on Thursday, January 20.

Meanwhile, as of January 19, Jakarta had 988 cases of Omicron. Of the nearly a thousand infected people, 663 were international travelers, while the other 325 were local transmissions.

Then, there were 1,012 new cases of COVID-19 in the capital as of January 19. Thus, the total number of corona cases is 873,104 cases.

There are 627 active cases in Jakarta, bringing the number of active cases to 4,924 who are still being treated or isolated.

"It should be underlined that 2,110 people from the number of active cases are foreign travelers," said the Head of Disease Prevention and Control, DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office, Dwi Oktavia.

Of the total number of positive cases, a total of 854,589 people were declared cured with a cure rate of 97.9 percent and a total of 13,591 people died with a death rate of 1.6 percent.

The positivity rate or the percentage of positive cases in the last week in Jakarta was 4.0 percent, while the percentage of positive cases in total was 10.8 percent.
