Semarang Has The Highest Active Cases Of COVID-19 In Indonesia, Followed By Central Jakarta

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Task Force for Handling COVID-19, Wiku Adisasmito, said that currently Semarang City is the region with the highest active cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia.

An active case is someone who has been confirmed positive and is undergoing treatment in a hospital or in self-isolation.

"The regency / city with the highest active COVID-19 cases in Indonesia is Semarang City with 2,317 active cases," said Wiku at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Monday, August 31.

Then, the regions with the highest active cases after Semarang were Central Jakarta (Jakpus) with 1,916 active cases, Medan city 1,432 active cases, Surabaya City 1,355 active cases.

Then South Jakarta 1,338 active cases, East Jakarta 1,327 active cases, North Jakarta 1,276 active cases, Makassar City 1,209 active cases, and West Jakarta 1,135 active cases.

Wiku said, nine cities with active cases above 1,000 need to be a concern for regional leaders and health workers who deal with COVID-19.

"All community members also need to anticipate this and encourage these cases to recover, so that the situation will be better," said Wiku.

The number of districts / cities that currently have active COVID-19 cases is 488 out of a total of 514 regions. "There are 93 districts / cities or 18 percent of the regions that currently have no active cases," he said.

Furthermore, today there are 2,743 cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia. That way, to date there have been 174,796 total confirmed cases.

Of the total accumulated cases, 41,420 or 23.7 percent were active cases. This figure exceeds the worldwide average of active cases of 26.9 percent.

Furthermore, there are 125,959 positive cases that have recovered or about 72.1 percent. The good news is that this recovery rate is above the world average of 69.73 percent.

Then, there were 7,417 positive cases who died or about 4.2 percent. "If you look at the world death rate is 3.34%, Indonesia is still higher than the conditions in the world," he added.
