Cases Of Confirmation Of COVID-19 At MAN 2 School In Malang City Increase

MALANG - Malang City Health Office stated that the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madrasah Aliah Negeri (MAN) 2 School, Malang City, East Java increased after tracking hundreds of students and teachers.

Head of the Malang City Health Office, Dr. Husnul Muarif, said that his party had carried out tracking by holding an antigen swab test for 424 students and teachers at the school.

"The tests carried out yesterday were 424 people, 11 positive", he said, quoted by Antara on Wednesday, January 19.

He explained that of the 11 confirmed cases of COIVD-19 in MAN 2 School Malang City, not only students but also teaching staff.

He did not specify how many teachers and students were confirmed to have COVID-19.

Currently, COVID-19 confirmed patients at MAN 2 School Malang City are undergoing independent isolation in a separate building in the school environment. In the school environment, there are dormitories for students.

"Currently, the positive ones have been isolated in a separate building in the MAN 2 School area", said Husnul.

Previously, face-to-face learning activities (PTM) at MAN 2 School Malang City were suspended for approximately 14 days following the finding of one student who was exposed to the Coronavirus. The termination of the PTM will be carried out starting January 18, 2022.

This was done following a grade 12 student who was exposed to COVID-19 after undergoing a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)-based swab test. The student previously attended a wedding in the South Malang area on January 8, 2022.

In Malang City, in total there were 15,674 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 18 active cases recorded. Of the total, 14,523 people were reported to have recovered, 1,133 people were declared dead.
