6 Tangerang Class IA Prison Fire Suspects Turned Into 4 People, Legal Counsel: That's The Police's Authority

TANGERANG - The attorney for the defendant at the Tangerang prison, Firmauli Silalahi, explained the reason for the reduction in the number of suspects from 6 to 4 in the Tangerang District Court (PN) trial.

According to Firmauli, the decision is the authority of the police. He could not interfere with the decision. He added that the four defendants had the initials RU, S, Y and PBB.

"The police have objective authority to determine the suspect. We cannot interfere in this. That is the investigator's authority," Firmauli told reporters at the Tangerang District Court, Tuesday, January 18.

"RU, S, Y and PBB," he continued.

For information, in this case, Polda Metro Jaya initially named three people as suspects with the initials RU, S, and Y who were Tangerang prison officers.

The three were charged with Article 359 of the Criminal Code related to negligence that caused someone to die. As a result of the development, the police again named three other suspects, the initials JMN, PBB and RS

"The police have objective authority to determine the suspect. We can't interfere with that. That's the investigator's job. I represent the four defendants." he concluded.
