After Eviction Of Street Vendors, Revitalization Of Sidewalks In The UKI Area Will Be Accelerated To Become Parks And Pedestrians

JAKARTA - The revitalization of the sidewalk in front of the UKI General Hospital (RSU), Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, Cawang, East Jakarta will be carried out quickly. After controlling dozens of street vendors (PKL), later the area will be used as a park and sidewalk expansion.

East Jakarta City Administration Assistant, Eka Darmawan, said the length of the sidewalk that was revitalized was 157.86 meters with a width of 6 meters. The sidewalk will be given a garden on the right and left, while in the middle is a path for pedestrians with a width of 1.2 meters.

"The position is a park, 1.2 (meters) people walk and then park again. So (pedestrians) walk in the middle," Eka told reporters at the location, Tuesday, January 17.

Later, the East Jakarta City Government through the Parks and Forestry Sub-Department will prepare the plants for later arrangement.

Then, the Bina Marga Sub-Department made a path for pedestrians. The Water Resources Sub-Department (SDA) cleans the waterways and prepares the land.

"The Parks Sub-dept. prepares plants, Bina Marga builds roads, cleans natural resources for canals, SDA includes preparing land, the land is dredged from reservoirs that we do for flood control," he said.

The plan is to install street lighting on the sidewalk. Even though there were protests from traders, the officers continued to control them.

Eka said, the purpose of revitalizing the sidewalk in front of UKI Hospital is to organize and restore its function as a proper sidewalk for pedestrians.

"We will make sidewalks and parks as they function," he said.
