Intending To Mediate A Quarrel, Banyuwangi Residents Are Even Splashed With Hot Water

BANYUWANGI - Resident of Singonegaran, Banyuwangi, East Java, Anggi Tia Warman became a victim of persecution and suffered severe burns. He was splashed with hot water by Asbullah (52) from Rogojampi, while trying to mediate the conflict.

The Banyuwangi police chief, AKP Kusmin, confirmed the alleged abuse by sprinkling hot water. The incident occurred at a shop owned by the victim's mother in Singotrunan Village, Banyuwangi, Friday, January 14.

"The shop for the perpetrator and the victim's mother was next to each other. At that time, it was unknown why the victim's mother and the perpetrator were involved in an argument. At that time, the victim, who was also at the location, asked questions and intended to intervene," said Kusmin, Monday, January 17.

The victim's arrival was not well received by the perpetrators. Instead, the perpetrator responded in a high tone and then threw hot water at the victim, hitting the head and back.

"At the time of the dispute, the position of the perpetrator was indeed cooking hot water. At that time the perpetrator poured hot water using a dipper, the victim suffered burns to the head, back of the neck, back," continued Kusmin.

After pouring hot water, the perpetrator immediately fled. Meanwhile, the victim, who felt sick, went to the kitchen to wash his wounds and was then taken to the hospital.

"The victim then reported the incident to the Banyuwangi Police. The following day, the perpetrator was arrested at his home in Kedaleman Village, Rogojampi. The perpetrator is suspected of using Article 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code regarding persecution," said Kusmin.
