Street Race Expanded, Dirlantas Polda Metro Says There Are 39 Locations For Wild Racing Events In Jakarta

JAKARTA - Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo said there are 39 locations that are often used as illegal racing events in the Jakarta area.

With this street race event, his party hopes that there will be no more residents disturbing the flow of traffic on public roads with illegal races.

"So they have a platform, they no longer carry out the race by closing the road. But we accommodate them to carry out the race at the place that we have determined," said Kombes Sambodo to reporters, Sunday, January 16.

Sambodo said that the street race will be held in the BSD, Bekasi and Tangerang areas next month.

"Thus, security is guaranteed not to interfere with traffic flow," he said.

While related to the BSD area, Kombes Sambodo said, according to the order of the Regional Police Chief, all Polres are looking for a street race track.

"Then together with the community we will check whether the location is suitable for use or not. If it is feasible, next month we will hold it again with the same format," he said.

If the street race is held in BSD, the event will be held once a month.

"We will discuss this place with the community so that we can do it once a week at night depending on what night, later we will close the road for racing. With this street race, (hopefully) there will be no accidents," he said.
